小功率雕刻机指的是雕刻电机功率较小的雕刻机(一般 70-220W),由于其硅酸钙雕刻电机功率较小,每次只能应用于切削面较少的精细加工。比如:胸牌、沙盘模型、工艺品表面加工等。这类雕刻机无法进行大功率雕刻和切割。大功率雕刻机是指雕刻电机功率在 700W以上的雕刻机。这类雕刻机不仅可以进行小功率雕刻,还可以进行大功率雕刻。比如:制作水晶字、各类广告标牌、硅酸钙板纤维水泥板板材的不规则下料成型、人造石材的加工等。因为其功率大,所以一次可以切下 30mm厚的纤维水泥板雕刻机或者用成型刀进行大功率成型硅酸钙板雕刻机。
